Ok, let's start things up before the year ends :->

Nanggaling kami nina Habs at Sketch kahapon sa Kuhala Bay Resorts (with the exception of this year, our usual PPF Outing venue since 2006) to check on their facilities (currently under renovation) dahil na-miss ata nila tayo this year. Among the most notable and welcome changes they made are the following:

1) The bathrooms for the Dorm-type rooms (the ones we usually rent) are finally getting a much-needed makeover - new fixtures, new plumbing.

2) The whole front desk/general office building (which includes the lower level where the Dorm-type rooms are located) now has FREE Wi-Fi access for all guests staying.

Overall, maganda ang impression sa amin nung mga changes na ini-implement nila, and we are seriously considering Kuhala Bay Resorts as the venue for next year's outing. May mga napansin din kasi kami sa City of Springs upon comparison with Kuhala Bay:

1) Mas malamig ang hangin at ang tubig sa Kuhala kesa sa CoS. We're going out to avoid the summer heat, so what's the point in going to a generally warm place with warm water?

2) Masarap tumambay sa labas ng room sa Kuhala kesa sa CoS. Malamang dahil nga mas malamig.

3) Kuhala Bay has showers with hot AND cold water, AND SHOWER HEADS. Masakit nga naman yung sa CoS na isang solid jet of hot water ang susuntok sa bumbunan mo everytime you take a shower.

4) CoS has the advantage of single beds over Kuhala Bay. Iwas sa problema ng mga nauubusan ng kama, but we do have the option of single bed suites sa Kuhala to avoid this.

Nag-discussion din kami doon ng ilang mga important points to consider regarding the venues, planning, designation and logistics, plus some suggestions. It would really help us to prepare for this event if you guys can share your ideas and feedback objectively. Kung pwede, let's try to keep it a serious discussion kasi mahalaga na malaman din namin kung ano ang mga naiisip ninyo para maging mas ok tong outing na to.

Among the things we discussed yesterday:

1) Proposal for solicitation to procure general PPF Outing supplies and utilities - Para ma-minimize ang pag-assign sa pagdadala ng mga bagay na parating ginagamit sa outing (e.g. butane stove, kitchen utensils, ice box, pots and pans). Naranasan na din natin kasi yung tipong, dalawa ang stoves, iisa lang naman ang kawali, or yung wala palang kitchen knives at chopping board.

2) General rules for outing attendees - Napansin din kasi namin sa mga nakaraang outings na tipong may mga members na nagsha-shack lang all day sa room with their laptops, may mga tulog lang all day, and such. Sana naman mag-isip din kayo ng mabuti sa pagsama ninyo sa outing kung puro laptop o tulog lang ang balak nyong gawin dahil interactive event ito.

3) Comprehensive outing consumables/supplies planning - To avoid the inconvenience of buying additional supplies during the outing. Marami kasi sa atin ang mga nagpapabili ng kung anu-ano pang mga sariling items like drinks and personal hygiene products sa mga lalabas. Hassle din sa mga lumalabas yun, so please do exercise consideration. Pwede naman nating bilhin yang mga yan before the outing itself, so why can't we pack them up earlier?

Ayan. Your feedback is highly appreciated. Kelangan pa namin ng suggestions to make this a better outing than 2011.

Also, we also appreciate comments or feedback regarding last year's outing. Para maiwasan natin ang issues sa darating na outing, sabihin niyo lang yung concern niyo dito sa amin, at hindi lang sa piling tao, para siyempre, magawan naming mga organizers ng paraan, para hindi ito maulit.

Hmn, I would suggest against rooms na separated ng buildings. Mas maayos kung asa isang building lang tayo.

Group games like we do on PPF Parties would be nice.

Just to help out with the brainstorming:

1. committees should really be implemented as early as now (I think). para makita talaga lahat ng kelangan at kulang.

2. group interactive games are nice, but since this is a 3D/2N outing, you have the whole 2nd day for the games. Film showing likely (if there is) can be done on the 1st night.

3. as part of the package, with group games comes with prizes. Unless people are willing to participate just for the fun of it.

4. My personal preference for the outing is CoS. Siguro kasi sobrang lapit ng mga convenient places to buy stuff and i can roam around the city. Since I am more of a sight seeing person, and gusto ko lagi gumala when i want to relax for a while.

Kuhala has it's advantage of privacy and that summer breeze. Group games can be done here since there is that big gazebo on top of the resort.

5. Room assignments, yung suggestion ni sketch is actually good. pero to back up for christen, ang downfall lang nung separate building is miscommunication that can lead to procrastination and laziness. unless may masipag kang makukuha na taga timbre at tagagising ng tao, go ahead. Thus, another committee is needed.
If people are in just one building, less people to take charge, less hassle.

Just like Dee, spacious sleeping area is also a very big plus for me. kaya nung nakita ko yun CoS dorm area, to think na atin yung buong front building, i loved the place kagad. from the sampayan sa roof deck to a lounge in front of the two dorm rooms, and an optional hall for us to rent if we want to do some indoor activities. everything is in one building. the only reason you go out of that building is to swim, cook and eat meals.

I've been to several outings na since I started participating regularly with PPF, and I really didn't have any problems with both location. Kaya ko naman magadjust sa setting ng whichever resort. But there are a few things na napansin kong mas convenient sa bawat isa:

Kuhala:
1. Their pool is the better choice during summer for daytime swimming... as pointed above.
2. Mas marami choices at mas kumportable ang pwesto na kakainan mo. If you want to literally sit on the grass, posible. Sa CoS, no table, tumayo ka dyan :P
3. Mas malaya makakakilos around the cooking area unlike sa CoS, na nasa tabi ng pool and madaming gumagamit ng common grill.
4. Either way, mas malapit ang pool sa rooms natin kesa sa CoS.

CoS:
1. If you suddenly felt hungry in the middle of the night and there's no food left (malamaaaang) or ubos na ang baon mong snacks, malapit lang ang public market at may choice ka pa kung saan bibili ng food.
2. Agree ako sa point ni Miff na (if at all possible) bring all you need before going to the outing. But there are instances na makakalimutan natin ang ilang bagay out of excitement, agitation, whatever. In this case, mas pabor na may malapit na (major) supermarket para sa mga kulang and naubos nating necessities.
3. The pool may not be perfect for day swimming but the water temperature's great for night swimming, especially for those na mahilig sa gabing lubluban at takot magkasipon pagkatapos. Wag lang kalimutan magpunas agad para hindi lamigin pagkaahon. :D
4. Mas maluwag ang gagalawan mo sa kwarto and ok ang pwesto ng air conditioner ( hindi natatakpan tulad sa Kuhala.. though I hope nabago na ang pwesto nun kasama ng renovation)
5. Hindi masyadong toxic pagdating sa paggamit ng CR. Parang hindi ko narinig na nagkaroon ng pila sa mga gagamit.

So ang bottom line dito is, it's either freedom to move within or convenience to outside world.

So far, yan pa lang ang macocomment ko regarding the resorts. Sa mga attendees naman tayo.

1. Clean up after your own. Please lang, kung may kalat ka man, huwag mo nang antayin na may iba pang pupulot nyan sayo. People won't entirely do it out of charity. They would do it because it personally inconveniences them. We all basically live in the same place and it is impossible for the others to ignore your kalat. Wala naman tayo sa mga bahay natin para hintayin nating may pumulot sa kalat natin diba? Respeto lang sa bawat isa.

2. Regarding sa sinabi ni Miff about laptop-ers and tulog-ers, I would understand the ones sleeping during the day (pwede kasing graveyard shift sila and panggabi lang gising or kinulang lang talaga sa pahinga), since hindi naman sasama yang kung hindi nila gusto makasama sa sayahan ng grupo. Pero dapat siguro wag na din magdala ng laptops, since it will eat up most of your time, especially at Kuhala with their new free WiFi. Ewan ko sa inyo kung ano ang desisyon niyo regarding handheld games, but I would suggest you only use them when there's no group activity going on. Or better yet, wag na, since sa ppf parties madalas naman kayo mag console/handheld games. I think ilang taon nang sinasabi to sa mga feedbacks, no?

3. In case we ran out of ingredients/toiletries/necessities, if someone (or a group) is going out to buy them, please please make sure that the list they're carrying is complete. I suggest that if our stuff is running low or out or forgotten, notify the mods asap. The one kulang-bili sa labas will only work in CoS, but what about Kuhala, where the nearest supermarket is at the next town pa? Hassle diba? Kaya if you can help it, pack stuff that is good enough for 4-5 days, if possible.

4. If you are doing something (be it cooking, cleaning, playing, swimming, showering, whatevs) and you are having some trouble, please don't hesitate to ask for help. Even if hindi niya toka ang ginagawa mo, pwede naman tumulong ang kung sino man, basta magrequest ka. To those who aren't doing anything and want to help, do not hesitate to help. Form of bonding din ang paggawa ng iisang trabaho, diba?

5. Mods: Just make sure we have a can of air freshener at hand ha? In case we suddenly encounter a Chernobyl. :))

6. Dun sa magtse-Chernobyl: Pakibukas ang bintana at pakikuha agad ang air freshener sa mga mods ha? :))

Hmm. Sa totoo lang, wala talaga akong mas gusto sa outing venues dahil gusto ko lang naman matuto lumangoy (ayaw pa rin ako turuan ni dadi. :< )

Dagdag ko lang sa mga nabanggit na topics so far:

- Pabor naman ako dun sa 3 room setup, dahil banyo nga yung isa sa kinukulang tayo. Sobrang pila ate letty why. Madali lang naman bumuo ng communication plan. : )

- Yes, magandang idea yung pagpaplanuhan na in advance yung pagkain. Dagdag ko lang na baka panahon na rin para i-taas pa ng onti yung budget. :\ ang hirap kasi minsan sa nagpaparaya sa pila, nauubusan talaga ng ulam.

- I think mas okay na wag nang i-asa sa PPF mods yung pag-organize ng games. Dagdag iisipin kasi. Mas okay na makapagfocus ang organizers sa necessities. On the part na lang ng mga pupunta, kung may maisip silang gusto nilang gawin - gawan na lang ng paraan: sila magdala. Maayos na contribution na yun para sa ikakasaya ng lahat. : )

About the Resort Selection:

COS pa rin ako(di sa dahilang medyo malapit ako) Dahil mas mataas ang convenience factor niya kesa kuhala(even if di ko pa napupuntahan iyon.)

-Accessibility,at kung anu-anong specialties na makakapagbigay sa iyo ng satisfaction sa lugar na iyon,ika nga.

Events/Activities:

-Sana nga,damihan pa natin yung activities or events kapag outing,yung tipong lahat magpaparticipate.Pero sana naman,bawal ang "KJ".Pansin ko last year,film showing,lang yata yung major activity nun,kaya yung iba,nagkanya-kanya muna sa ginagawa.Sana naman next year,maglaan tayo ng time,more on having activities na nangangailangan ng partisipasyon ng lahat...lalo na kung games at fun activity ang pag-uusapan.

Sana,magkaroon tayo ng outing na Traditional ang activities,with traditional games.

Sana,nakikita ko pa itong mga games/activities na ito,kung sakalaing may magbabalak:

-Pass the Message
-Spin The Bottle
-Other Games that are truly Pinoy Style
-jamming sessions
-ghost story telling
