Final Discussion: PPF Outing 2011: LVP or CoS?

Kung sakaling sa CoS tayo, malabo ata na magkaroon tayo ng dalawang hiwalay na kwarto, unless willing tayong magshell out ng additional cash.

That means for 24 people, 23940 ang initial payment which is quite low.

Meron namang for private pools pero baka kulangin tayo sa beds.

we could also opt for a private pool within the pansol area that can accommodate lots of people. problema lang yung beds. but i'd go for LVP. (yay, lapit lang outing XD)

Ma'm Rikki: With regard to private pools, based from experience, usually ang mga "affordable" private pools eh very limited ang facilities, particularly in their lodgings (like you said, insufficient mattresses, minsan hindi airconditioned ang room) plus, very limited ang outdoor leisure activities natin (dahil iisa at maliit lang ang pool). In a way, we are sacrificing a lot for privacy alone. Yung mga magagandang private pools naman, medyo mabigat na ang rates nila.

On that note, nanggaling kami kahapon ni Habs sa Manila office ng Splash Mountain (which also handles City of Springs) to personally inquire about the details of their rates and facilities. So far, we managed to clarify a lot of things:

Dormitory rates with a capacity of 20 are at 6580 per night. Additional person/s are at 265 per night, additional bed/s also at 265 per night. Room accommodations automatically avail guests of a one-time flat rate of 85 per head for entrance and use of facilities. So let's say we have the same 24 guests with no extra beds:

(6580 x 2) + [(265 x 2) x 4] = 15280 / 24
= 636.67 + 85
=> 721.67 per head (base charge for entrance and room)

Then comes the additional fees - a one-time electricity fee of 100 if we decide to bring electric appliances (e.g. rice cooker, TV/monitor) and corkage fees, applicable for beverages only at 50 per case (since we're bringing 1.5L softdrinks, 6 bottles per case) and 75 per bottle for hard liquor and wine. Let's say we bring around 24 bottles of drinks and around 2 bottles of hard liquor:

100 / 24 = 4.16
(24 / 6) x 50 = 200 / 24 = 8.33
(75 x 2) / 24 = 6.25

= Less than 20 pesos per head in addition to the basic rate

That gives us a rate of less than 750 per head.

Syempre, that's just to give you an idea of how affordable this place is. Di pa natin alam kung me iba pang additionals like let's say, applicable taxes or service charge and for that, we requested for an official estimate from them. Inaantay pa ni Habs yung email nila so standby lang tayu for further updates.

Ok kids, we just received the official quote for City of Springs, so update muna tayu

Same computation as above, but with a few adjustments, so let's break it down again, given 24 persons:

Basic Charge/s

6580 x 2 = 13160 (Rate for the Dormitory Room, good for 20, for 2 nights)
(265 x 4) x 2 = 2120 (Rate per additional person, 4 persons, for 2 days)
85 x 20 = 1700 (Entrance fee for 20 persons availing Dorm, one-time payment)
95 x 4 = 380 (Entrance fee for additional 4 persons, one-time payment)
560 x 2 = 1120 (Picnic table rental for 10 persons per day, 2 days)

Basic Total = 18480

Additional Charge/s

Let's say we bring 1 rice cooker, Tim's LCD/PS3 kit, and 3 laptops:
(50 x 5) x 2 = 500 (Electricity fee, 50 per item per day, 5 items, for 2 days)

For corkage, let's say we bring around 24 bottles of 1.5L softdrinks/juice and 2 bottles of hard liquor:
(24 / 6) x 50 = 200 (Corkage fees at 50 per case, 6 1.5L bottles per case, 4 cases)
75 x 2 = 150 (Corkage fee at 75 per bottle of liquor, 2 bottles)

Additional Total = 850

Total = 19330 / 24 = 805.42 per head

Now, let's say we want to avail of a private pool for one whole day:
5000 / 24 = 208.33 (Additional per head for private pool rental)

Final Total = 1013.75

Take note that this total is still subject to adjustments, depending on certain factors (e.g. additional guests, beds, electric appliances, etc.) so again, this only serves as a guide to help you guys decide. In addition:

Pros:
- Very affordable and well within the budget scope
- Natural hot spring water in pools
- Dormitory room is adequately isolated at the 3rd level
- Private pool has a standard room attached, plus tables/chairs

Cons:
- Only 2 medium-sized public pools
- Electricity fees go up with additional gadgets like laptops
- Private pool package is only for day swimming (8am-5pm)
- One big room, so no more noisy/quiet room designations

Thanks sir Miff. Okay, my turn. TL;DR muna, pero paki-basa, dahil mahalaga ito

Isang lugar na lang ang hindi pa namin naii-scout, at ito ay yung sa Bolinao. Beach Resort. Compared sa Laguna, mas gagastos tayo sa pamasahe, pero malamang, mas mura ang rates. So mag-arrive din tayo sa ganyang budget.

Ayon sa usapan namin, mapupuntahan namin ang lugar by March 18 or 19, so yan ang last date na makakapag-post kami ng possible options kung saan ang ating outing for this year. Maaaring mapaaga iyan, kung sakaling hindi talaga kami matuloy. But stay tuned.

Pagkatapos niyan, magkakaroon kami ng one week manual voting kung saan niyo talaga gusto. Also, first time natin lilipat ng lugar other than Kuhala, so expect some adjustments, like baka walang noisy/quiet rooms, or magkaroon ng mini-programme para may oras na dapat lahat tayo ay nasa pool.

Meantime, handa po lahat sa mga sasama sa outing. By 3rd week of march magkakaroon kami ng one-week voting (manual, hindi yung poll ng forum para makapag-tally kami ng mga aattend talaga) kung saan ang first and second choice niyo mag-outing (in the event na hindi na pala pwede yung first choice), at by the end of the week, magpapa-reserve na kami. Once nag-vote kayo, you are considered a 100% attendee.

The week after the poll, magsisimula na kami humingi ng at least 500 downpayment para sa lahat ng pupunta, dahil ibibigay rin namin ito sa kanila, dahil manghihingi rin ang resort ng downpayment for reservation.
